Every year, I go on a trip with my mom and this year we decided to head to Utah. I’ve been to Utah two times before and it’s one of my favorite states to visit. We both love the desert, an environment we rarely see living on the East Coast. We based ourselves in Moab and visited three National Parks, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef. There was barely a break in the action (except to go to the local brewery) and we experienced a lot in a short time. I’ve been to Moab before as it’s a mountain bike mecca worthy of many pilgrimages, but I haven’t been to Canyonlands or Capitol Reef and only spent one rainy afternoon in Arches. Traveling with my mom is fun and easy, and she is very patient when it comes to my photography. It’s nice to stop once and awhile for a sunset and we do that a lot on our trips. She’s great when I say, “I want to go to this overlook and take sunset shots.”, even if it’s a 45 minute drive away, we get there in plenty of time and watch the sun drop slowly while I snap away. For sunrises, I’m usually on my own but come back right in time for breakfast! For this trip, I experienced a very cold morning at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands, a very popular spot for sunrise, as the sun rises below the arch. I also had a few good sunsets while we traveled from place to place. Here’s a few of my favorites.
Can’t wait for next year’s trip.
